So you’ve decided to start an SEO campaign for your business. Great choice! SEO can provide a lot of high-quality results that will help you achieve your business goals more efficiently than almost any other form of marketing. Now that you’ve made the decision to engage in SEO, however, there are a few things that you need to do to ensure you get a high return on your investment. Once your SEO campaign kicks into gear, you’ll find that your site will receive higher traffic. In order to make the most of that traffic, you’ll need to follow some simple steps.

Here’s how you can prepare your site to receive higher amounts of traffic and optimize your SEO success:

#1- Communicate with Your Account Manager

Your account managers have the tools and knowledge to help you through each step of the SEO process. In order for your campaign to be successful, it is vital that you and your account manager be on the same page. It is important for you both to have a firm grasp of what the long-term and short-term goals are for the campaign, as well as how you’re going to achieve those goals. It is also vital to communicate to your account manager what products, services, or information you would like to focus on.  This will allow your account manager to provide keyword suggestions that will attract the customers you want. Be sure to clarify with your account manager what type of traffic you’re hoping to get on your site.

Step#2- Be Aware of the Traffic you are Currently Getting

By using tools such as Google Analytics or Webmaster Tools, you can determine the current traffic you are receiving day-to-day, week-to-week, and month-to-month. If you can figure out where your traffic is coming from, how much traffic you’re getting, and which keywords are attracting your traffic, you can use these statistics to help your site attract even more traffic. These statistics are also helpful in comparing your current results to the results that you’ll see once your SEO campaign is in place. This is especially important when you consider that your SEO campaign may require you to make changes to your site itself; if you don’t prepare and start looking at your traffic data now, you won’t have a point of reference to judge whether those changes are effective or not. Boostability strongly encourages you to know your traffic trends now because we know that you will be better able to see the excellent results that our work provides.

Step #3- Write Content that Complements Your SEO Work

It is extremely important to develop relevant, unique content on your site. Google is all about judging whether your site is adding value to the web. It is extremely important that your content is unique—it hasn’t been used anywhere else on the web. Re-using content on different pages of your site or using content from other sites is a huge red flag to Google, so avoid it at all costs. The best way to show your site’s value is to write content that is centered on your keywords. One of the first steps of your SEO campaign should be to talk to your account manager and determine keywords that will best help you to reach your SEO goals. Make sure that you are incorporating the long tail keywords that you discussed with your account manager. Using general keywords like, “electronics” in your content will not do your site a ton of good if your SEO campaign is focusing on more niche keywords like, “quality Sony digital waterproof camera.” Make sure that your content is focusing on the same keywords as your SEO campaign. This reinforces with Google that your site is actually relevant for those keywords. Keyword-based SEO actions, when combined with relevant, keyword-based content, will provide the best boost in your search engine rankings, which will ultimately produce the greatest increase in the amount of traffic coming to your site.

Step #4- Make Your Site Easy to Navigate

Using relevant, keyword-based content on your site is important for another reason: it will make your site easier to use. No one likes to visit a site where they have to work hard in order to find what they’re looking for. You want to visit a site that makes it easy to place orders, read product descriptions, and get the information you need quickly. Your customers are no different. If your site isn’t easy to navigate, the higher traffic that you’re achieving with your SEO campaign won’t do you a lot of good because your potential customers will just give up and go elsewhere.

Incorporating keywords into your site whenever possible will make it easier for users to find the products, services, or information that they need. When users are better able to recognize what your site is about, the result will be a higher number of users who convert into customers. That being said, optimizing your site based on the keywords that you select with your account manager should be a priority. The less your customers have to dig to find what they’re looking for, the more significant the improvement that you’ll see in your site’s performance (and your profits!). Another thing that you can do to optimize your users’ experience is to include a few “calls to action.” A call to action can be a phone number, an email sign-up form, or a button that directs the potential customer to a form or number where they can get a free quote. Calls to action help customers to find what they need quickly, and they can be a huge help in converting potential customers into actual customers.

When done correctly, SEO and internet marketing have the potential to give you the highest return on your marketing investment, but it’s essential that you take the necessary steps to ensure that you achieve maximum results from your SEO. Preparing and optimizing your site to complement your SEO campaign will help you to see even higher traffic on your site even higher profits for your business.
