Comparably.com asked women about compensation, being challenged at work, getting valuable feedback, and other workplace issues. Here are some of the companies that made their lists of best places for women to work. USA TODAY
Craig Jelinek of Costco, Satya Nadella of Microsoft and Bert Bean of Insight Global were among the top 50 CEOs for women, according to a new survey by Comparably, a compensation, culture and career monitoring website.
Jason Nazar, CEO of Comparably, said these leaders push for a more inclusive hiring process and follow up with training and policies, such as parental leave, that support the needs of female employees. They also openly pledge to close the gender wage gap.
“We’re able to showcase what workplaces are like for women, what companies are best for women, but then we can take it a step further and say what are the CEOs that are rated highest by female employees” Nazar said.
The high rating of Microsoft’s Nadella shows he overcame an embarrassing 2014 episode in which he was criticized for suggesting that women needed to wait for karma instead of asking for pay raises.
Nazar explained that Nadella’s public apology and his effort to create programs to close the pay gap between men and women within Microsoft have reassured the company’s female employees that Microsoft encourages equality in the workplace.
Comparably, when compiling ranked results, looked at how women rated their CEOs, co-workers, managers, professional development and even items specific to meeting interactions.
The lists below represent the best CEOs for women, as rated by their female employees on Comparably.com. Large companies are organizations with more than 500 employees. Small-to-medium companies are organizations with fewer than 500 employees.
