The majority of us are not web designers, and as a small business you may not even have a budget to hire someone to build a website for you. This is where WordPress comes into play.

WordPress is a free open source system that you can have installed onto your domain to be used as a blog, and can even be used for your entire website. Originally WordPress was designed to be an easy way for users to post blog updates onto their blog page, but it has now evolved into a system you can build an entire website off of. It’s great because it is simple, easy to navigate, and also very easy to install! A lot of hosting providers such as bluehost and hostgator have a 1-click install that will implement WordPress into your domain in a snap!

So why am I talking about WordPress? Frankly, because it is an awesome system for SEO. In a recent study it was shown that WordPress is used by 14.7% of all websites online,[1] so there has to be a pretty good reason as to why people are using it. I use WordPress because it makes SEO simple. It is much easier to use WordPress than to build a website from scratch. Let me give you an example:

A big thing we always suggest for our clients is to update a website’s Meta Title and Description. In WordPress it is incredibly simple to do. Once you are in the interface, you just need to go to Settings, then General and you will see this screen:

You can see the two areas I highlighted where they ask for your title and then to describe your site. This is going to be your Meta Title & Description! Making that change is super simple if you are using WordPress!

That is only one example of how easy it is to use WordPress to your advantage. If you are interested in learning more, check out WordPress.org
