As the year wraps up, we’re busy taking a look at some of the biggest trends from the last 12 months. 2019 was a pretty big year for Boostability—we celebrated our tenth anniversary! But the digital marketing world in general had a pretty great year, too. Global ad spending is predicted to hit over $330 million by the end of year, and there are almost two billion unique websites now active on the web.
In order to decide what to focus on in our end-of-year highlight reel, we turned to the Google trends feature. We decide we’d take a look at two major topics—digital marketing and SEO—and see what additional terms or search queries came along with them this year. Here’s what we found.
Every marketing campaign is focused around a central goal: generate leads, which in turn generate revenue. It’s no wonder that alongside searches for digital marketing, people also looked for help with lead gen.

Once you’ve secured a new customer or started to build a relationship with an existing one, maintaining that relationship is crucial. Customer relationship management was one of the top searchers in tandem with digital marketing, and in an age where online reviews and customer satisfaction are top priorities, it’s easy to see why. Online reviews are today’s word of mouth. If a business has bad reviews online through sites like Google and Yelp, it reduces the credibility of a business in the eyes of a public because they do not view it as trustworthy.
Developing secure relationships with people who use your products or services is a multifaceted project, but one of the most efficient ways to do this is actually SEO. An unimpressive web presence, either from bad website design or sub-par SEO, can hinder an otherwise profitable relationship with your customers. Great search engine optimization creates a web presence that’s trustworthy and reliable, which in turn leads to better online reviews and overall customer satisfaction.
