05 Jun Google Webmaster Tools Gets Rebranded to Google Search Console
Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) has been rebranded to Google Search Console. Don’t worry, the design and functionality is exactly the same as it was before, but has merely received a new name. In fact, even the URL has remained the same, although Google did also create a new short URL for the popular tool as well, https://goo.gl/.
According to Google, the name was changed to be more inclusive of GWT’s users since webmasters are just one of the many groups of people that use GWT. For instance, small business owners and SEO experts also make frequent use of GWT. The new name also focuses on what the online tool is actually used for, rather than who uses it.
