When you think of online searches, you probably picture users looking out a tasty restaurant or picking out a pair of Nikes. But after restaurants and cafes, people search for doctors and dentists most often.

What information do patients want to know? Many users search listings on Healthgrades and Yelp for the following:

  • 45% of people check quality of care, including diagnosis accuracy and bedside manner.
  • 39% of people check patient ratings.
  • 25% of people check demographic information, including years of experience, academic background, etc.

Simply having a listing can impact your practice for the better, but from these statistics, you can see that having the right information can pull in even more patients. Review these numbers below, and create and update your business listings to include the details that will make the most impact.

Man, reviews are so important! My wife and I went to a doctor without reading reviews and had a terrible experience, only to find out that had we read the reviews, we would have found out that he wasn’t a great doctor in the first place. Now when we are looking for a practice, reviews are the first place we go.

This is pretty interesting! I visited Health Grades and it seems like they have put in some serious time to provide what patients are looking for. This also gives the doctors guidance on what they can improve on in the patients’ eyes such as Hospital Awards. Is there any reason why patients trust Yelp more? Is it because it is just more established?

This is a cool info-graphic that demonstrates the value of having profiles for your business in all the top profile directory sites.
