2018 BoostCulture Highlights

2018 BoostCulture Highlights

As the year starts to wind down, it’s the time when we like to look back at everything we’ve accomplished during the previous 12 months. But in our case, we’re looking back at all the incredible things we’ve done because we work at Boostability. Our culture can’t be beat, and we know how to have a good time while getting results for our customers. Here’s a look back at just some of the fun activities we did during 2018 that made it a year to remember.

January

After a rocking December and end to 2017, we kicked off 2018 with a bang. Here’s our CEO Gavan Thorpe breaking down how the previous 12 months was really an incredible year. It really got us off on the right foot for an incredible 2018.

February

In February, Olympic fever took over the world, and over our offices. We decked out with flags and had friendly competitions between different teams for all the Olympic events, but with our own Boostability twist.

And of course everyone knows Valentine’s Day is February’s claim to fame. And the executive team really knows how to make everyone feel special at our company. We’re lucky to have such a great leadership team.

March

Boostability turned the Ides of March into the Pies of March by celebrating Pie Day in epic fashion on March 14th.

2018 also had an early Easter falling on April 1st. So we celebrated with an egg-stra special Eggstravaganza at the end of March leading up to the holiday. How many people get to say they have an Easter egg hunt around the office?

April

But the egg fun didn’t stop there. Part of our Fulfillment team got to have an Egg drop contest off the roof of our Orem offices. It takes a lot of ingenuity and creative juices to protect an egg dropped from two stories. Take a look at some of those eggs fly!

April also saw our first BoostCares initiative of the year, and got us involved in a great cause. Everyone across the company and the community donated books for a local elementary school in need. Then we got to go deliver it all to the school, making sure every student got a book of their own. The best feeling in the world was seeing their eyes light up when receiving their book.

Every quarter @boostability works with different groups of employees on a project to give back and contribute to our community. This quarter we held a company book and donation drive for Suncrest Elementary. We were able to give every single student a book to take home in addition to adding a ton of books to their school library. My group talked with the fifth grade classes who were all VERY excited to receive a book of their own. Their teachers, principle, and librarian were equally excited for them. As we talked about our favorite books at their age and the book we were giving them, it was awesome to see them light up when we mentioned loving a book they also loved. I’ve never been more proud to be a Booster. THIS is how we Boost. • #boostcares #givingisgood #thisishowweboost

But BoostCares didn’t stop there. We also got involved in an Earth Day project in April helping out at a community garden. Spring has sprung, and it’s time to get everything ready for summer.

Boostability could most likely be described as a nerdy company. So when the biggest super hero movie of all time debuted at the end of April, Avengers Infinity War, you better believe we were all over it! With activities all week leading up to the premiere, we got all Avenger-ed out before the premiere where we all go to watch together. (still recovering from that ending though)

May

Boostability embraces a work hard, play hard philosophy about our jobs. We work really hard for our customers, but its important to take minute to have fun with our team members too. Lucky for us, Star Wars Day on May the Fourth fell on a Friday, the day before Cinco de Mayo, which means we got to celebrate both at the same time!

June

In June, we got to take part in another BoostCares Initiative, this time helping out Encircle, a group that helps at-risk LGBTQ+ youth in Utah. Our employees were able to donate by purchasing a BoostPride t-shirt. We raised over $5,000 for this great cause, and also marched in the Salt Lake Pride Parade. Way to represent Boosters! Encircle’s motto is that no one should ever walk alone, a cause we can all get behind.

Our Orem office took advantage of the warm weather and threw a welcoming summer party with a chalk art contest and lots of food!

July

At the beginning of July, the Lehi office had their own summer-themed activity with a hot dog eating contest. These guys can eat! Few things say it’s summer more than hot dogs.

Again with our nerdy culture, some of our Boosters love Harry Potter so much that they probably could have written the movies! And our content team threw a Harry Potter-themed Christmas in July party with all the fixings. Even a potluck for Potter-themed treats. We really have the most talented people here on our teams.

But our biggest party of the year closed out July with 2018 BoostFest held at the Living Planet Aquarium. All Utah employees and their families got to come to the aquarium for some great food, face painting, and of course all the animals. It was an awesome chance to get to know everyone outside of work and have a great time. At Boostability, we sure know how to have fun.

Our office in Berlin held their own BoostFest summer party and luau in July. Take a look at some of their fun!

August

Another BoostCares project literally sent our employees over the edge of a building! To help the Utah Youth Village, the Over the Edge organization offers once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to rappel off a building for struggling foster children. And six of our employees got to take part. They all said it was absolutely terrifying, but definitely worth it.

But it went beyond these daredevil drops. We also got our Lehi and Orem offices involved in a back-to-school supply drive for Midvale Elementary. We received thousands of items that made the start of the school year so much brighter for these who might not otherwise have the supplies they need to get the school year started off right.

Our Berlin office got a special visit from students attending Cairo University. They got to learn from our employee’s expertise about SEO and digital marketing. It was so fun to get to know this group and experience their culture.

September

Did you know there’s a lot of random holidays out there? And we like to celebrate those days, such as Fortune Cookie Day in September! Thanks to our HR team for hooking us all up with fortune cookies for the day.

We also had a spirit Friday where we all dressed up from our favorite decades. Looking good!

October

Welcome to October! The month where Boostability really knows how to shine. Halloween is a big deal around here, and we have big activities every week to keep everyone involved. Even if Halloween isn’t your favorite holiday, it’s hard to not get in the Halloween spirit here at Boostability.

The first week, we had a coloring contest.

And decorated mini pumpkins.

But our competitive side came out when we were challenged to decorate our desks for the holiday. Many of our teams pulled out all the stops and made it quite an experience to walk through the office.

And we can’t forget the all the amazing costumes our employees wore on Halloween itself. Check out all the fun!

The Berlin office had a Halloween party of their own!

November

I think I’ve mentioned a couple times that we’re very nerdy around here. So when the latest Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them movie was coming close, we couldn’t resist a little Harry Potter-related fun around the office. Plus, we got to go see the movie!

December

Especially at this time of year, we wanted to find a way to give back. Our fourth quarter BoostCares project got our offices involved as well as the community to raise money and donations for Salt Lake’s Road Home all to help those in need this holiday season. Thank you to all who gave so generously.

But also at this time of year, it’s the best time to bring out the decorations, and the candy, and have a good ol’ fashioned Christmas party with your coworkers. Check out the celebration at our Orem office.

And of course it wouldn’t be Christmastime without a visit from our Boost Santa who made sure to stop by our offices for lots of pictures with our employees. Santa and ugly sweater day?! Doesn’t get much better than that.
