Patience is a Virtue
Published on August 3, 2011, by Jordan Colton
In this world of instant gratification, it can be frustrating and difficult to accept that things happen in their own time. Not everything happens as quick as a Google search result, and some things do take time. And as the old saying goes, patience is a virtue, and things that are worthwhile take time.
This, of course, applies to SEO and increasing your ranking on Google and other search engines. While SEO is effective, it isn’t just an instant fix. We usually tell our clients that it can take 3 to 6 months for them to see results finally start to happen. Why isn’t it instant?
Well, according to Google they have indexed trillions of pages so far, and that number is continuing to grow constantly. So Google’s robot, that actually indexes the web, is crawling the internet non-stop to make sure that the most updated websites are within their index.
As we are building citations for your website through our SEO services, Google is continuing to crawl the internet. Because there is so much information out there being published constantly, it can take some time for them to find those citations and new links we are building. Once the crawlers find the new links, they then update their system, and your rankings for a specific keyword increase.
Hopefully this will help you understand that it can take time for changes to take place and for your rankings to increase in search engines. While it does normally take a few months to see a major change in rankings, there are a couple ways to make the process move faster. One way is to make sure that you are signed up for Google Webmasters so that you can submit your sitemap to be indexed just a little faster.
