Do You Have Social “Klout?”
Published on September 20, 2011, by Jordan Colton
A lot of people in the SEO industry base a lot of what they do on numbers; wanting to know what kind of weight their link building strategy is going to have on their client’s site, which link building tactics is going to be most effective, and how new search engine changes will factor into their rankings. I never had heard of the Klout system before, until it was introduced to me by someone I follow on Google+.
Klout is a social media algorithm that gives you a score (1 to 100) of how influential you are to your friends, family, co-workers, and those that you connect with. The majority of all of the social media outlets are connected with this algorithm: Facebook, Twitter, Linked-in, and now Google+. As you make connections, share links with those that you know, and add more value to social media, your Klout score will increase. I think it’s a really cool way to see how much impact you have on decisions others make.
Feel free to add Klout to your social media connections, and let us know what kind of score you have. I currently have a 10 which is low, but am starting to work on making a bigger impact online. Share with us your influence and what you think of this algorithm.
